On switching career after many years in academia (in optimization)

Hi. I stayed too long in academia before deciding that it is not for me. I was trained in optimization and can program well. I am much older than a typical applicant. I submitted my application to join Micron. I hope I can judged based on how I can contribute. Salary not a big issue. Thanks.
