In my opinion to be successful, in general, you need two things:
1. A growing mindset: in other words you need to be always curious, willing to keep learning new things constantly. I know that by nature people do not like changes, but the "uncomfrotable zone" is actually a very good place to be because you cannot learn much if you do not step out from your comfort area.
2. Obsession: once you are obsessed with something you will start reserching about it, and keep learning and that is how you improve.
